What are the best schools in the US for Art History?

Just about all selective universities have good art history departments. Because the field is wide, they tend to specialize in particular styles or periods. Many are connected to museums.

Among small colleges look at Williams, Wesleyan, Skidmore, Hamilton, Oberlin, Kenyon, Conn College. Bryn Mawr and Smith if you are female.

Williams program is notable for its on campus museums and placement of its graduates aas directors and curators at prominent museums.

Johns Hopkins has a top History of Art major, in addition to having the Baltimore Museum of Art right next door. Art history majors are required to take classes involving the museum, as well as learning either French, German, or Italian (if that floats your boat).
