Major Confusion

I know this topic has been discussed but I am still unclear.

My Daughter is a rising senior she will be applying to colleges this fall.

For UCSC, she wants to choose TIM as her major and Business Managenent Eco as an alternate major.

TIM is offered by BSOE. If she does not qualify for TIM, will she be offered admission in BME assuming it is easier to get into BME?

Thanks

UCSC admits into the University first and then into major for BSOE. Even as an accepted BSOE major, you are still required to pass the screening courses to declare your specific major.

Choice of major does not influence the selection of first-year students, except for those applicants interested in a major offered by the Jack Baskin School of Engineering (BSOE). Freshmen who are interested in a BSOE program should be sure to indicate a BSOE proposed major. Students who do not indicate a BSOE program or who apply as undeclared might not be able to pursue a BSOE program.

So yes she may be accepted into UCSC with an alternate major than her first choice. But basically all applicants are accepted into a “proposed” major and must meet the requirements before declaring that major be it TIM or Bus Management Econ.

@Gumbymom - You are awesome … Thanks
