major decreases chances of admittance?

I'm a junior and I'll being applying next year.

Is it true that if you indicate that your intended major is pre-med (or something else very popular) then you will have less of a chance of getting in?

sorry for posting the same thing twice............... it was an accident

I don't really remember applying to a specific major, it was just choosing between a different program like engineering, LSA (which covers a lot of things like premed, predentistry, english etc...), and I Art [there are others like nursing and dental hygiene I think]. Engineering is notorious for being the most difficult to get into. Good luck next year.

no icicle, theres no effect whatsoever. Just get the stuff you need like SAT's, grades, activities w/e. With mine however (i put premed/biology as a major) i explained it within my essays. Cause the essays were like describe a special experience and what i can contribute to u of m and all that so i connected each of my essays with my prospects of entering the medical field. just some fyi lol
