Hi everyone, I’m from China, I just applied cal poly CS grad program for 2016 fall. My major was construction engineering. As China real-estate market booming past several years, I’ve got chance work in fancy projects like hotels, office, parks. However, I was intrigued by comp sci 2 years ago, (the API between softwares intrigued me) I start learning on-line open course. Learning small stuffs like using Python scratch the web. Now, i want to systematically learning CS in a school. I did research of schools and i LOVE calpoly! I want to ask is Cal poly friendly to students with no CS background? I’ve got a BS in construction engineering in China, in university time I learned calculus, linear algebra, statics, learned a fossil programming language visual fox, fundamentals of computer science. But these are just theory. if i cannot apply a cs master without a cs bs degree, can i apply a CS BS degree in CP slo? Does the school allow students to finish the course in 3 year? Is there a community school I could get thru CS basic course admitted by CP and then transfer to CP? CP SLO is barely known in China, coz she doesn’t advertise herself thru agent in China like other schools do, and also becoz of this i think CP is unique. I know CP is a good school coz lots of My current American colleagues went to CP. Chinese are generally conservative, they don’t like to change very much, in this context, i’m crazy to get out of a stable life status and look for something new.Too little information about CP in China, need help badly from you guys. How can I get into it.
