<p>Yes, congratulations on landing the job. Your relationship with your parents is very sad. I would be extremely proud of my child if they got into a great school such as CMU and would do everything I could to support them. For some strange reason it sounds like your parents are resentful of your academic ambitions. Hopefully this won’t detract from your studies and goals. I’m sure that with your determination you’ll achieve a great deal in life!</p>

<p>BTW, if money is really tight right now make sure that you do not have too much withheld from your paychecks. Look into whether you will in fact need to pay tax this year. (Be aware that the room and board portion of FA is taxable.) The standard number of exemptions often leads to excessive withholding for low-income people, especially if you aren’t emplyed all year. It sounds as if you will need the money now, not in a refund a year later.</p>
