Major/Minor, Career Path: Engineering, MBA

I have no idea what I want to do in the future. I want to go into engineering (any kind except chemical) but I also have a knack for business and computers. My whole family is in business and I've been interested in and messing with computers since I was nine or ten. So for a major, I want to pick something that constitutes not only something that I'm interested in, but has a good job outlook for the future and pays well--really well. I know that most types of engineers make $75,000-$100,000 after a few years. Is there anything I could do to be able to make as much as, say, a dentist with their own clinic? I've heard that majoring in Business and minoring in Engineering is the best possible combination as far as money goes. What exactly do you think I should do and what jobs can this combination get me and what do they pay?

It's not common for one to major in business and minor in engineering. However, it is doable for one to major in engineering and minor in, say, economics.

What kind of jobs and career paths would that open for me?

Awwww....chemical is so much fun though...;)

I say:
BS engineering + MBA

Well I heard there aren't too many jobs in ChemE, but I also really really despise and suck at chemistry. I just don't get it. Physics, I love and am good at. Anyway, what will the BS engineering + MBA get me as far as jobs go?

There are a lot of variety of jobs for ChemE...more so than any other engineering discipline besides Mechanical Engineering.
Oil/Gas, Energy, Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals, Cosmetics, Water Treatment, Silicon Wafer Manufacturing, Food Manufacturing, Biochemicals...etc.

Pursue the engineering field that interests you. Work for a few years and then pursue an MBA...The MBA will allow you to move into management or financial roles.

BS Engineering + MBA = best combination of technical know-how and business acumen.

BS Engineering + MS Engineering + MBA
thats what i'm doin... and maybe a phd as well.
