Major Problem

When I applied to Brown ED my major choice was Int'l Studies or whatever the correct name is for the concentration at Brown. I am sorry I don't remember. But after finishing my application to Vanderbilt and working on some other applications my intended major has changed. While I always intended to be an English or History teacher I did not want to major in either subject. However, I have decided that I really want major in Comp. Lit and thus my problem. Although I was deferred from Brown should I tell them about my change of heart or let it slide and wait until April to find out whether or not I get in.

I am posting this in the Parent forum to get the advice of people who have been through the admissions process.

Also on the Tufts app there's an optional essay about describing the environment in which I grew up. Would not answering this question hurt my chances for admissions?

Brown would be far more surprised if a kid actually majored in what he wrote on the application than if he didn't.

If you are a strong writer, you should always write the extra essays.

I know someone whose mother sent in the optional essay. Bingo! He was taken off the waitlist!

International Relations is THE major of the moment. Switching to Comp Lit--with additional essays (:)) can't hurt.

Cheers,
I hope the mom only sent in the optional essay and that she did not write it :)
