major reality check

Over the past couple days Ive posting trying to decide on a major. After emailing/talking to many admission ppl and counselors over the months ive decide out of 100's only 3-5 were helpful. Some were enthusiastic about helping me but some werent, so im been trying to find information on what degree or license you need to have to be a counselor or a advisor for a college.

ps: all comment and opinions are welcomed

plz and thanks for help/ replies

What kind of counselor? A mental health one or an academic one?

Psychology or social work could be helpful! Or organization/management if your school has anything like that

Admissions people don’t need a specific degree or license. Academic advisers don’t need one either. (I noticed that most of the general academic advisers at my college are trained in the humanities; the major-specific ones are regular faculty in the discipline.)

Mental health counselors, like heyyou1234 said, usually have degrees in psychology or social work and are licensed by the counseling/psychotherapy/clinical social work agency in charge of their state and specialty.
