I am a second year community college student looking to transfer to a 4 year university. I've been on my own since I was 18 and graduated in a non-traditional manner, so I wasn't able to take any AP course, or anything else for college credit. It has been a few years and I am trying to get an education :D I am a 4.0 student, in the honors program at my school, and a member of several clubs.

I've taken both Intro to Bio and Intro to Chem and I really want to major in one of them, but I am currently a liberal arts major. Chemistry seems so sequential and I'm already behind, so I'm leaning toward Bio.

Here are my questions:

Would I be better off switching my major to bio/chem at community college and losing some credits I've already taken that I would no longer need, or staying with liberal arts and filling my electives with math and science?

It seems like if i stayed with liberal arts I would have around 60 credits and be able to graduate on time, not so if I switch. I figure if I fill my electives with math and science, I could take college chem I & II and math through calculus I, but would that be enough to transfer into a science program at a 4 year school?

Also I was wondering if taking these entry level courses in college was hurting my transfer application? I know some kids coming out of high school are able to skip some of this stuff I have to take, for instance I had to take algebra and pre-calculus in college. I've done well in them, and I am continuing to more rigorous courses, but I feel like I have so little time and I don't want to waste it.

Thanks in advance for any advice you might have.
