Hi all,
I transferred schools this year (I think you can figure out from where to where by reading my old threads). I consistently go A- or so on papers at my previous school, but now I am getting B- (80s) on most papers. While I understand that this is common, I did not think this would actually happen to me, as I feel I put a lot of effort into the papers I write, and my writing style is more or less the same for each assignment. Besides going to the writing center and meeting with the professors, is there anything anyone suggests I could do? I am planning on going to grad or law school, so the less Bs on my transcript, the better.
Where did you attend and do you attend?
Each professor teaches differently. You can’t expect that since one professor liked your work, another will as well. My writing style is pretty controversial as well, I’ve gotten anywhere from Ds to As in my English classes during high school depending on the teacher, and I’d expect the same for college as well.
As for extra help, I think you probably covered all the bases. I would really go to the professor during their office hours and ask them specifically what was wrong with your paper and why you got the grade you got. This way, you’ll know what your professor likes/doesn’t like and you’ll be able to formulate your paper around that.
