Major!

I'm worried that if I major in biology, there's a chance I won't get into med school and I'll end up being a teacher! (which is not up my ally).. I want to major in something where I may have more opportunity if med school doesn't happen. However, I also don't want to get into a major that in totally unbearable and it will be hard to make the grades I need. Anyy thoughts?!

Go into whatever you want, medical schools do not care what you major in. Admissions stats show that the majors of admitted students almost exactly mirror the majors of applicants in terms of %ages

well, you don't have to be a teacher -- you can work as research tech, assistant, or associate at a company or university lab and then apply again to a different set of schools (i heard that helps)

teaching will actually be out of reach for you with a bachelor's -- you need to get more accreditation, like a masters in teaching, for any school to hire you

you have to make a solid back-up plan for the "what if i get rejected everywhere" scenario

but if i major in something not science then it seems i'd be doing a lot more work to get the pre-med requirements for med school...right?

Depends on how your school's major requirements are set up.

what about going into research? I plan on being a bio major and if med school doesn't work out i hope to get into research.

w/ a bio degree u can pretty much just teach or do reasearch. not too many options there. i would suggest majoring in chem if u want more options. it'll be easier to finish ur pre-med requirements. plus there are more job opportunities out there. however, being a chem major can be harder than being a bio major. usually u have to take higher math and stuff. but, really major in something u like. even if its nonscience. u'll probably just need to spend one summer taking classes. that's not so bad
