Majoring in Accounting and thinking about a Minor

Hello.
I am Majoring in Accounting, and I'm thinking whether it's worth it to Minor in something else. My B.C. in accounting will give me 128 Credits, will a minor give enough credit to be eligible to take the CPA after graduating? and does the Minor have to be business related? If I chose IS (Information Systems) as a minor would it add to the total amount of Credit Hours, and is it better to choose a minor that's more business related like Banking and Finance?

Your minor isn’t that important, although an IS or CS minor might help.

The minor doesn’t necessarily give you any more hours. As long as you have your 150 hours, you’re fine.

Some type of MIS or CS minor can be helpful in getting into IT auditing or risk assessment. And generally, no, a minor won’t have to be business related, but that’s something your school itself would set. The only restriction for minors in my business college was that we couldn’t minor in business admin if we’re majoring in business; it would essentially give everyone a ‘free’ minor.

How many accounting hours do you need in your state to be licensed? I had 36 for FL requirements, so I took 12 extra credits in accounting at undergrad level to meet education requirement. Do you have enough business credits without the minor for licensure (FL was around 54 business credits, website for state board will list requirements)? What value will this minor add to your skillset? I suppose you could minor in finance or econ, to stay closely related.
