I’m currently in the process of applying to colleges and thinking about what career I want to pursue. I’ve always thought I wanted to enter physical therapy because I am interested in the human body and how sports injuries are treated, but now I’m uncertain. Since physical therapy doesn’t contain much math which is my absolute passion (it’s one of the only things I look forward to in my classes) I’m wondering if going that route wouldn’t be wise. I thought about engineering since it contains a lot of math however I just never have been the type of person that likes building things. I’ve thought of computer science as well, but working in a cubical or staring at a screen all day is something I’d like to avoid. Also to clarify, I’m not a scrub at science courses like physics, chemistry and biology. I can get good grades in them it’s just that in math I always excell. If anyone could help me with my situation It would be very appreciated.
See if you can find some info (online videos, job shadowing, site tour) about what different types of engineers actually do; it’s not all about building things, and some types are not at all about building things. That might help you figure out if it’s something you can see yourself doing.
I’m in highschool as well, so take my input with a grain of salt, but if you really love math like you say you do, maybe just going into a mathematics major wouldn’t be that bad of an idea. I heard mathematicians usually have pretty good salaries, and if math is what you enjoy then you’ll be happy as well.
My friend, senior in highschool like me, is really good at math and his plan is to become an actuary and just coast through the rest of his life making bank.
Thanks for advice guys!
