So I am currently a biology major but I have enough classes to become an anthropology major. I want to go to optometry school eventually and they don’t require that you’re a certain major when you apply. Should I apply as a anthropology major instead of biology? I also have quite a few W’s due to health reasons, do you think that’ll affect me heavily in the long run?
If what you’re saying is true, anthro might be a better option.
@cciskillingme optometry schools really don’t care about your major but they want to know that you want to be an optometrist and it isn’t an afterthought or back up plan. They are also looking to build a well rounded, diverse class so having unique majors can be seen as a positive. Make sure you touch upon why you enjoy anthro or what being an anthro major has taught you in your essay. Working in an optometry office or shadowing an optometrist can help show the schools that you are interested in optometry.
