I was doing some research on Sarah Lawrence and I was lead to believe that they do not actually have "majors" and when you go there you receive only bachelors in Liberal Arts. Is that correct? I was confused though because when I received my acceptance packet and went to RSVP for their students day, they asked me my intended discipline.

I guess my question is then, what is the difference between disciplines and majors? And what does Sarah Lawrence offer?

I went to an info session, and from what I gathered, they refer to “majors” as “concentrations.” So there is no majoring, but your concentration is essentially your major only it is very specific to what you are interested in.

Okay, thank you. That’s what came to understand when I visited the campus last week.

Concentrations are a lot like majors, except they’re less intensive. You have requirements you have to meet for your concentration, but not all three classes need to be in your concentration.
