I picked a major that seemed like it would suit me but my parents don't seem to agree because to them it won't bring in solid income. Does the major you pick on the college application seal your fate? Especially the ones that require auditions, is it okay if i ignore the auditions and choose a different major that might be more suited to me.

Most college students change majors at least 3 times over the course of their college career. Once you are accepted, you can contact your advisor and change your major. Just remember it is easier to change from an impacted major to a non-impacted major than the other way around.

What about the majors that require auditions? For example i applied and chose music as my major and they asked me to setup an audition date. Do i just ignore it and if i get admitted change my major? Thank you for the responses in advance

Iif you applied as a music major then that is the major your acceptance is based upon. I will call and ask if you can change your major now or have to go through with the audition and switch after you are admitted.

Ok thank you!

So do i have to follow through with my applied major?

At this point, it is probably best to follow through with the audition, gain admission and then switch.

I asked my counselor and apparently if i call the college i can ask for a change
