<p>I got in. I doubt choosing undecided hurts your chances, unless you show that you have no direction in life and you're just aimless...? Stanford doesn't have you choose your major until around sophomore year. I'm assuming this is because they want students to be open-minded and explore. This principle would be contradicted by a policy that puts "undecided" applicants at a disadvantage.
I cant remember exactly if there were 4 spots, but I do remember being able to type in the potential major, so I assume you can put chem or math.
Matt McGann did say once that "undecided" means you are choosing between two things you really like, not that you have no idea where your future is headed. Then again, he works for MIT so I'm not sure it's the same...</p>
