Majors

what major would be good for somelike like me who is very interested in math ( besides the obvious Math major)? i also have a personal interest in computers so i thought about ECE and EECS (although i know how perfect writing code has to be which can be a hassle for me). Ive leaned towards ChemE, but what about the previous two i mentioned and maybe even AeroE? Researching has gotten me some info, but i would love if i could get opinions from people who are enrolling/enrolled in any of these majors about what these majors are about, i.e. workload, heavy emphasis on certain subjects, etc.

if you're interested in all that, but also like math a lot why not do physics?

Any major in engineering really uses a lot of math. Most universities of engineering start out the same. They all have main engineering classes and A LOT of calculus (almost everyday, if not). Then, the second year students declare exactly what engineering concentration they want to major in (Chemical, Electrical, Biomedical...). Most universities actually have a class that introduces all the different concentrations, such as Rensselaer. I just visited five colleges in the past week, so I know this trend firsthand. Most universities actually encourage students not to go to their school knowing exactly what they want to do. The first year is like the experimental stage. You get a taste for each kind of engineering, and believe me, whatever engineering major you pick, there is tons of math and problem-solving involved. Good luck!

so would engineering undecided be smart?

Probably, yes. Take some 'intro to x' classes and see what you like best. Unless you're certain of what you want to do...:)

What kind of math do you like? If you like discrete math, go computer science. Yay for proof writing!

i do like discrete math, but i dont think ive had too much a taste in anything else. and plus, my only experience in comp sci is going to come this year in AP comp sci. i mean i know basic computer stuff plus some stuff the average person wudnt, but im no computer genius.
