What are the best majors to get into IB with?
Is it just finance and econ? because I read on one of the other forums that they look at philosophy majors too because they know how to think. I want to go to Yale and major in either math and philosophy, econ and philosophy, or do the EPE program

engineering is also a good major for IB.

sigh if you want to join IBD at an investment bank it does not matter what you major in.

If you want to do S&T, it is beneficial to have taken courses in multi-variable calculus, statistics, probability and derivatives...you will find that certain desks, such as structuring, tend to have a large concentration of math, engineering, physics and economics majors. while others have a greaer variety due to a lessened focus on higher level math.

You will find majors ranging from sociology all the way to engineering in IBD and S&T at a Bulge Bracket investment bank.

a van halen fan, diamondDave?

What's IBD and S&T?

I would probably say something like Finance/Economics/Accounting etc something along those lines.

Investment Banking Division and Sales & Trading. It does seem like BB's will take any major from a good school with a good GPA. Majay's post probably accurate.

Yeah...it's a pretty good band. He's also from my home state (Indiana) and I was listening to them when I made the name

make sure you have math

I'm a PoliSci/Philosophy double major at a top target school. Is this ok for IB?

I just need some reassurance because whenever I talk about it with my friends, it's always ECON ECON ECON.

It always seems to be econ, because it is self-selecting.

However, as a summer analyst, I worked with others who had degrees ranging from Sociology to Engineering.
