My roommate and I share an apartment with four other girls. In this apartment we have a kitchen, with all the amenities, which is an essential for my roommate. She has some severe dietary restricts. She cannot have gluten, non-naturally occurring sugar, and dairy. She drinks almond milk, and buys special bread for a near by bakery. My question, however, is my apartment and a few near by have a Monday night tradition of getting together for activities and treats. She's accepted her restrictions, but it's still hard to have lots of people over and not have her be able to eat anything. Are there any treats I can make her that fall within her very strict restrictions?

The first things that came to my mind: tortilla chips with fresh salsa, veggies with dip, fruit (fresh or as a salad), gluten-free bread and hummus, deviled eggs, sushi.

If you can use honey or sugar substitutes, there’s a whole range of baking you can do.

Or if you are looking for more creative ideas, try googling “sugar-free desserts.” Among the first hits are recipes for cocoa- and coconut-crusted bananas, melon & apple granita, coconut macaroons and carrot cake (substitute a gluten-free baking mix for regular flour).
