An excellent article for those interested in getting into Lehigh:

We look at interest, Gardiner said. Its one of the reasons why we encourage students to visit. We tell students that contact with our office is important. If we sense that a student is admissible but not at all interested in Lehigh regardless of where else he or she may get in, why would we waste an offer of admission on somebody that has no intention of enrolling?

Just wanted to say that my child threw Lehigh into the mix as a safety. He actually got accepted into quite a few schools in the top 10 (although not HYP). I never thought he would go to Lehigh, and I never thought I'd pay the money for him to go (after all, I thought, paying for Notre Dame, Johns Hopkins, Amherst etc. is a different story).

Long story short.....in April when a bunch of acceptances came in, we finally went to Lehigh to visit (for the first time). It was love at first sight. He turned down some pretty great schools. I was sort of shell-shocked. But....in the long run.......Lehigh is fantastic, and it was the absolute best choice for him. I don't mind writing the checks to them.

He is in a mix of kids who are extremely sharp, preppy, upper-middle class, jocks, etc. Over 20 years ago these guys would have all made it into HYP...but the problem (from what I have read) is that those schools are tripping over themselves to be so "diversified" that I think that these guys are getting the short end of the stick. But, HYP's loss is Lehigh's gain.
