Hi everyone,

I am currently a first-year student at a university college (yes, it's called that) here in Malaysia, doing a BA in Mass Communications. I had done a foundation year in the same program the year before. In August of this year I will be participating in the semester-long WorldSmart Leadership Program, and I will continue the second semester of my first year when I return in February 2006.

I am considering continuing the rest of my studies overseas, and right now my college choices are located in the US and Australia. Now I don't think I'll have much trouble applying into the Australian unis as they are directly affiliated with my current institution. However, none of my American unis are directly affiliated with my college, and while my college's study-abroad office will help me with some things, I still need to do some work of my own.

I plan to transfer overseas for the August 2006 semester at the very earliest. Right now I'm in the "waiting-for-requested-prospecti-to-arrive-so-I-can-look-at-them" stage. I've looked at a couple of the prospectuses/i that I have already, and it seems like such a long and complicated process!

If I want to transfer internationally by the August 2006 semester, when should I start applying? I may have to take SATs and the TOEFL; when should I register and take them? What else should I prepare, and when should I do it?

Basically, when should I really start the application process?

Thanks for all your help :D

p.s. if it matters - I'm currently studying in Limkokwing University College. The Oz colleges I'm interested in are Griffith and Monash, while the US ones are NYU, Columbia College Chicago (NOT Columbia Uni), Hampshire, and Emerson. I'd like to do a degree on Journalism, Mass Communications, or an Independent Study program (tho I'm considering Creative Arts at Griffith). Any comments about the above places are appreciated. :D
