Male/female ratio in engineering?

I got accepted to CWRU’s aerospace engineering major. I’m a female, and I’m wondering what the gender ratio is in AE/MechE classes. Thanks!

Will it make a difference to whether you go?

The common data set doesn’t break down the numbers by classes, but maybe by major. Remember that many classes (math, chemistry, physics) aren’t major specific.

My daughter is at a school with 30% women, 70% men. She doesn’t even notice.

I though Case didn’t do direct admits.

I’m a female in the Mech E/ Aero E track. I’ve heard that Mech E here is about 80-20 guys to girls. However, I haven’t noticed that yet. Overall engineering is closer to 50-50 since majors like BME (which is majority female) balances things out a bit. Also, we don’t split off into our majors from general engineering until around the beginning of the 3rd year.

Don’t let the gender ratio deter you - if Aero is something you really want to pursue, you’ll be dealing with the gender ratio the rest of your life. Plus if the gender ratio is already enough to deter you from pursuing Aero Engineering in college, you might want to reevaluate your goals and motivations.

OP asked for facts, not judgments.

The gender ratio is not deterring me from pursuing it. I was simply asking a question because I was curious.

Thanks for the answers, everyone

Here is what it was for those who graduated in 2016:

AeroEng: Males 92 Females 21
MechE Males 244 Females 65
