@lextar my S19 received the letter today from the President of Manhattan College. I couldn’t find any additional information on the honor society other than what was in the letter. They do have the induction ceremony on their calendar: https://visit.manhattan.edu/event/78926
@lextar and @jimbobcharlie My daughter got the letter too and I also couldn’t find anything on the website. The induction ceremony is on a Tuesday evening which is not doable for people who don’t live close by. I thought it odd that there isn’t any type of get together for inductees on the admitted students days… is it an empty gesture, does it mean anything, are they even inducted if they can’t go to the ceremony? All in all, it’s a bit of a disappointing and underwhelming “award” with the information (or lack thereof) that’s been shared. Please let us know if you find out anything more.
@JBSeattle Looking forward to it - hope to see you! ?

Likewise! Only two weeks away!
My son was accepted into the Saint La Salle Honor Society. When we visited the campus a couple of weeks ago, I asked our tour guide about it. She said she had been in it but dropped out. It didn’t sound like there was much to it, but she said she thinks the school may be changing it. My son is planning to get more information on Accepted Students day. I do think having the induction ceremony on Tuesday night a bit odd. Also, there is Accepted Students day two days before and the day after. Why not combine it?
The LaSalle ceremony is the night before the first accepted students day correct me if I am wrong so it can be combined actually looking forward to it .
I think that is correct. For us, however, not a great option. We live in CT, so would not stay over. However, going in two days in a row, would not work well.
Thoughts from anyone who just attended the accepted student’s day?
We enjoyed it even though it was long I think the kids deserved to be recognized and I think the intention behind it was worth the effort as it brought the kids together .
It’s official Manhattan College it is !Perfect combination of all we were looking for right here in our backyard was not easy he had 7 all good choices and he is dorming .Glad touring is over !
@mom05
My daughter is 99% decided. We just attended Admitted Student day yesterday. We did buy some swag.
Congrats!
@JBSeattle: cant wait to hear about how your trip yet. I’ll hold off on my congrats until it’s 100%

My initial impression driving up to the school was not great as we entered on the “city/subway stop” side. The breakout session (business majors) was really good/informative and my daughter enjoyed the student version. People seemed pretty friendly and a few kids even waved and yelled my daughter’s name (they met on the internet of course ?). We are hoping they will sweeten the pot on the merit but not looking likely. The work study appears to be very flexible and can be more than what is indicated in the award leter which is good.
I like the school’s empasis on service, job placement and internships. The mini study abroad opportunities are also neat. Seemed to be an engaged student body and one of the best college tours we have had.
My wife and I are done with NY for awhile though (we stayed in city). Not like we live in a small city but this place can be overwhelming. We are leaving today (3 AM here and need to try to sleep).
@JBSeattle, The location is pretty interesting, if you look at it on google earth it really does sit on the “edge” of the city. If head out of campus n the other direction you are in the middle of treelined streets and multi million dollar homes. Staying in the city can be a little overwhelming especially if you are anywhere near Times Square. Lots of other neighborhoods to explore during your next visit all with their own unique vibe. Safe travels!
We went to Admitted Student Day on Sunday and really enjoyed it! My daughter had already committed but she was excited to get on campus again and meet some of the faculty and potential classmates. She’s also already applied and been accepted to the Arches Program (freshman experience type thing which is simply first 100 or so students who apply are admitted) so she was eager to get another look at where she’ll be living. There were no tours in Lee Hall, but Horan Hall is the same and we got to see a room there. We ate in the dining hall and although it was packed (a little miscommunication about the scheduling of lunch and I think all 1,000 or so people went at once) the food was tasty and the people working there were great - so patient and friendly when the job was pretty overwhelming! @JBSeattle The other side of campus (further up the hill) is gorgeous and residential. The lower side towards the train station is a bit more commercial, but with connection via train to all of NYC. The park, Van Cortlandt, is second in size in the city only to Central Park. There is a lot of lovely green space there.
All in all, my daughter can’t wait to get there and get started! ?
Yes, we saw both sides. My work colleague lives in Riverdale and he showed us around a bit. Having the 1 train/subway is also very convenient. We were told the complete wrong place to stay (Upper West side Manhattan). We should have stayed west. My colleague said that Upper West side has more boutique hotels and no Marriotts (I am a Marriott member). If she decides to attend, we will skip Marriott next time and save the ton of money we spent on Uber and Lyft.
My daughter definitely wants to go. My wife hates the cost (she has lower cost options).
@aimster888
I kept yelling Aimster on Sunday and no one answered, lol!
@JBSeattle. ? Sorry I missed it!
@aimster888
We did meet the most Jersey people I have ever met in my life. Ironically they were from Delaware.
