Who else drives a stick, a.k.a. a car with manual transmission?

Represent.

I drive both!

My parents own 2 cars.

One is a stick, the other is a semiautomatic

semiautomatic is tight

i drive a stick. Its awesome.

Word to the stick.

When I borrow my parents' car, its an auto...But my uncle lets me drive his stick sometimes..Stick is more interesting, and keeps your mind from wandering off too much.

stick!! is awesome!!

Yeah, I drive a stick and I work at a Volkswagen dealership so I drive sweet cars all the time.

I'm too lazy, so I love auto :)

Is there a major difference between auto and manual? I want an automatic, but would settle for manual. So which one is better?

There is somewhat of a learning curve when it comes to driving a manual shift car, but you get the hang of it pretty quickly. You have much more control of the vehicle, especially in bad weather, and improved fuel efficiency. Plus, it is a heck of a lot more fun to drive.

I drive both kinds of cars and have no real preference, but if I had to drive in a snowstorm, I'd feel much safer with a manual transmission. It is a good skill to learn, because you'll never know when you'll have to drive somebody else's car and realize it has a manual transmission.

There are also cars that come with "semi-auto" or "Tiptronic" transmissions, which are really just shiftable automatics. These operate on a completely different principle than a true manual transmission (torque converter as opposed to a clutch plate), and are kind of pointless in my opinion. VW also has a new "DSG" transmission which is a true manual in that it has a clutch mechanism, but the clutch is computerized, so there is no 3rd pedal. Shifting is done by a button on the steering wheel, or can be fully automatic if you so desire.

I can't drive so I don't use either. I'll probably end up getting an auto with tiptronic when I actually get my license.

i drive an auto but like 3 weeks ago i learned how to drive a stick so now i'm borrowing my friend's car all the time :)

Driving a car with manual tranny is much more fun, plus all the girls think its sexy. You also save money when buying the car and its more fuel efficient. Just make sure youre pretty decent at driving the stick before you take a girl out though. You dont want to give her whiplash and look like an idiot.

I drive an auto because no one in my family has manual. I want to learn :/

Manual. I have never drived an auto.

I have never drived an auto
AB_CDE_

and the correct answer is D

Oooh I think I'm still in sat mode..

Too bad i don't have a car. :/

When I get car, it will be a stick shift; if one can drive a stick one can also drive an automatic. The converse is not true, and has been demonstrated spectacularly on the The Amazing Race.

I drive an auto. Stick seems way too hard. I wanna try the new BMW M5 with SMG, though. I think it's manual but without a left clutch.
