Many reaches and not so many safeties or matches.

If you could chance me for these schools, that'd be awesome. I'm starting to think I applied to a lot of reaches and not enough safeties. I'm into three out of my four safeties (in-state public universities) but their financial aid packages are a bit weak so I'm hoping for these others.
PLEASE don't just base decisions off of my SAT. I know it sucks.

Agnes Scott College - received decision already but still, what do you think happened?
Barnard College - deferred from ED, will find out next week (?)
Mount Holyoke College - no decision yet
Smith College - no decision yet
Spelman College - no decision yet
Wellesley College - no decision yet
Wheaton College (MA) - no decision yet

Objective:
- SAT I: 1770 (superscored) - CR: 620, M: 530, W: 620
- SAT II: Lit: 670, UH: 630
- Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.524
- Rank: 31 out of 400
- AP (place score in parenthesis): APWH (3), APUSH (3), AP Lang & Comp (4), AP Gov, AP Bio, AP Calc AB, AP Eco, AP Lit & Comp
- Senior Year Course Load: AP English Literature and Composition, AP Calculus, AP Biology, AP US Government, AP Economics, Journalism/Newspaper, Pre-AP Spanish III, Art History (online course)
- Major Awards: AP Scholar, National Honor Society, Quill and Scroll

Subjective:
- Extracurriculars: All of my extras are leadership. Section editor on school paper for three years. Now editor-in-chief of the paper. Class officer of senior class - Historian. Officer of NHS chapter - Historian/Parliamentarian. Chairman (not quite an officer) of a committee in our Student Council.
- Job/Work Experience: Odd jobs. Most recently at a grocery store as a bagger for about three months and then on support staff at a local haunt attraction for two months.
- Volunteer/Community service: I'm not sure the total number of hours I have volunteered just yet, but combined with Student Council, NHS and my own separate work at a local aquarium - I'm sure it's over sixty.
- Summer Activities: Working to help out my mother.
- Essays: Pretty good. I was told by many different people (not just friends) that they showed great voice.
- Teacher Recommendation: Rights to read were waived. I had three core teachers and one EC instructor do them. One core teacher I'm sure had a good one, I'm assuming because she's an English teacher. The other two were paste and copy letters from two kinda lazy history teachers. The EC instructor was probably the best because she really knows and understands me, and she's very intelligent. Plus last year, a lot of crap was being talked about her and I wrote a letter to defend her and I gave it to her superiors - very bold if I do say so myself.
- Counselor Rec: Probably mediocre but she has a lot of kids to write for.

Other:
- Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
- Intended Major: English
- State: Texas
- School Type: Public, only really competitive in the top 15 - 20%, about 1800 kids.
- Ethnicity: African-American
- Gender: Female
- Income Bracket: < 35k
- Hooks: Single-parent home, first gen (mother only has associates, brother kinda dropped out), URM.

Reflection
- Strengths: Being consistent in my ECs. Common App essay - showing voice. EC instructor recommendation.
- Weaknesses: SATs for sure. GPA. Paste and copy recommendations - just one would've done. No other ECs than what I have time for.

bumpity bump

I don’t know about all these schools but I can say that Barnard, Mt Holyoke, Smith, and Wellesley are reaches. Best of luck!

Thanks. I’m sucking up to Barnard right now so here’s to hoping.

Bump.
