Does anyone know what held up the poor marathoner who lost 2 hours in the 5k segment thru Wellesley?

they were kissing girls : ) There's this whole deal where Wellesley girls line the sides of the track and offer to kiss the runners. I heard a story from my hostess (I just overnighted) about one guy who went through Wellesley, got kissed, ran on for about a mile and then went back for some more. I think Wellesley was voted the most popular place to run through for the Boston Marathon.

Is this true? There's more to the Boston Marathon than I realized!

Marathon Monday was one of my favorite annual events at Wellesley. Signs and t-shirts and cheering (we're the Scream Tunnel) and runners who hold the cell phones up to the crowd so whoever is listening can hear the deafening noise :)

My first year, there were signs for the marathon in the T stations. They had a picture of a gender-non-specific individual's legs/feet, running along a road, and the caption said, "If they try to kiss me at Wellesley, I'll let them."

I've heard of those signs. Although I think it should be more along the lines of "If I try to kiss them at Wellesley, I hope they let me."
Some lady runner totally kissed my dad, saying "finally, someone I can kiss". My mother, who had also driven up to see the scream tunnel, was standing right next to him. Lucky she didn't take it too personally.

You gals should leave the poor runners alone - you ruined that poor man's time!

at last a reason to run

^ Exactly, if i were a man, i totally wouldn't mind! BUt again, my french teacher from last year collapses into a wheelchair everytime he finishes the Boston Marathon. Talk about "dedication", LOL!
