i used the new immigrants, catholicism vs. protestantism, and prohibition, only because that was what we recently covered in my IB history class.

you guys all sound sooo smart! good luck!

I used the birth of our nation as well as Anthem.

I had the same question(fit in/stand out) and used some other kinds of examples. I used Richard Branson and the Wright Bros. They might sound like they wouldn't work on the surface, but I gave a detailed explanation for both on how stnding out made them different.

hey guys if i said Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 911 instead of 451 do you think they will mark me off a lot? ( I normally am not that stupid. And I did read Fahrenheit 451 in like 9th grade, I was really nervous I think and not thinking clearly). I used Anthem too.. and The Giver... but I also used personal experiences.

Wow, compared to everyone else's, mine sucked... I wrote about Thomas Edison, Bill Gates, and myself...

at least yall had a conclusion...

lol dolce for some reason that made me laugh. but u probably did 5x better than me on math

I just remembered that I might have started the paragraph on Animal farm talking more about Stalinist Russia, then bring up its animal farm parallel in the second sentence. How bad is that?

I used Henry Ford and YouTube. <--- HUGE HUGE mistake.
I didn't even have time to think of a literature example!
I'm expecting a maximum of grade 10. SHOOT ME NOW.

i used Lord of the FLies and Abolitionist for the high low experctabiotion
but again..i am canceling my score==..ahhh

Lord of the Flies, thats a good one. Why are you canceling your scores?

You don't NEED literary examples to do well.

FootballPlayer -
But still, one of my examples was YouTube.YouTube!!! What the hell was I thinking? LOL. I explained it pretty well though. I hope those old people know what I'm talking about.

I used MLK, Watson and Crick, and used a quote from Henry David Thoreau's Civil Disobedience. Is that 12 material?

lol thanks keane. by the way im a keane fan too.

Where were you going with you tube? It depends what you said. If you made it relate to the topic then your fine.

I said that MLK was the first people to start peaceful a civil rights movement, even though he was ridiculed by other leaders like Malcolm X. For Watson and Crick I said that they were laughed for trying to discover the structure of DNA when more famous scientist were using X-ray crystallography (think I mentioned Linus Pauling and Roslen Franklin). I said these guys achieved fame and greatness for their work and that although it is hard to be an outsider, those who do not fit the "mold" are the ones who make a difference in this world. the Thoreau quote was not exactly what he said, it was the final sentence at the end of Civil Disobedience (all about being a nonconformist). Something about Jesus Karl Marx and Ben FRanklin were nonconformists and we remember the because of this.

Sound like a 12?

I had the expectations question. Is it typical for students to be given different prompts? Everyone I know around here got the same one I did.

I used "Beloved" and the social reformation.

YouTube --- I talked about how they had a really unique idea and were willing to step out of boundaries and comfort zones; I also mentioned TIME Magazine dubbing the Person of the Year as "You," and how they referred to this generation as the "YouTube generation"... unique with new ideas, not fitting in, etc etc LOL.

Dude I hope they understand. I get a lot of weird looks when I tell people this.
