March 2012 SAT I Math Thread

There was one about a cube and you had to determine how many small spheres with diameters of 3 could fit into the cube? This was experimental, right?

It was RADIUS of 3. Therefore you could only fit 8 because the box was 12x12x12.

@Bruce, I know I got atleast one, though I don’t fully remember. Which Q’s were they?

lol still at the-0 :OO

does anyone remember that question that provides an equation and it had to do with prime numbers and you have to provide a counter example?
or was it experimental…

does anyone know the question with the dots in was a fairly easy question i just want to know how u guys solved it it was like if u remove one of the columns what number could u get or something?

how did u solve it?

^^ confirm .

There was an area question, in which the answer was 4. It was like two triangles and a circle.

@nhcballer.

There’s no mathematical way. Just remove each one of the column at a time and see if you get a number that corresponded with one of the option.

@niceboat

i think i got that, im just tyring to remember. if u removed the other columns did u get liek a gap in the middle of the number so that it didnt work…do u remember what number the 4 columns represented was it like 2512 or somethign??

The column question? That was a multiple choice question.
The area question was grid in I think.

the question said that the four columns and dots represented the number…? what number was it so that if u chopped out a column u would get 512?

I think it was 2312

Or 3212.

But it was a 2 and a 3 I’m sure.

does anyone remember that question that provides an equation and it had to do with prime numbers and you have to provide a counter example?
or was it experimental…

so how did u get 512 if their was no 5 in the problem?

@bruce.

Sorry. My calculator doesn’t work like that O_o. I can only see like the 6 lines.

nhcballer.

You remove the column between the 2 and 3 to get a 5.

this was an easy question but i was rushing and must have written down the wrong answer the first time, but…

the question where they give you a number, and say if you multiply it by 100, what will be the 100’s digit. it was 4, right?

yeah, I got 4 also. I found it convenient how after you multiplied the numbers the digits were 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.

wondering if this question was in an experimental section: a point is reflected across the y axis and the answer was (-1,-2) or something?

^ The answer was in the 3rd quadrant. A point in the 4th quadrant was reflected over the y-axis.

Hey guys I have a question, and I really want someone who knows to answer, no guesses.

My math had 2 sections with grid-ins. Does that mean 1 is guaranteed to be an experimental?

no, there is always one 25 min MC, one 25 min MC and fill in and one 20 min MC. I had 4 math sections total and one was MC.
