***March 2016 SAT (US Only) Thread*** |New Redesigned SAT Discussion Thread

Why don’t I remember ANY of of the questions or passages discussed here? Did I just by accident skip a couple of passages and like 50 problems?

But shouldn’t have I recognized at least some of the passages or problems?

@Bse15578 I agree they won’t inflate the scores to market the test, but wouldn’t it only be fair to curve this test leniently? Because for the May, June, and fall tests, there will be a lot more information and study material available for the test, and kids will likely do better because of that. That has to be taken into consideration.

So middle of may for scores? +_+

How are colleges superscoring the New SAT?
Are they superscoring the Reading&Writing as a chunk or reading and writing score separately?

I thought about it and superscoring the new SAT is worse compared to the old SAT:

Here’s why.

Say you took the old SAT(2400-scale)
and got 800M 800CR but somehow screwed up on 650W = 2250
So you retook and got 800M 800W and somehow screwed up on 650CR = 2250
Superscored = 2400

On the New SAT(1600-scale)
1st take: 800M 700W+R(40R+30W) = 1500
2nd take: 800M 700W+R(30R+40W) = 1500
Super scored = 1500
Since writing and reading are smooshed together, even though you’ve gotten perfect 40 R and 40W on two tests your superscored score is still 1500
yeah…
Obviously I made the example extreme to make my point clear, but it definitely looks like superscoring the new sat isnt gonna be as good as the old sat if they superscore reading and writing together

Why don’t I recognize any of the questions?!

i put 3

Anybody taking may? I already know I screwed up on this one and signed up for the next, I want to be done with standardized testing by the summer. Any tips on the reading section?

no what happened?

wow. I feel the proctor should be punished somehow since the students are being punished for something out of their control.

I heard at the neighboring test center one class didn’t even take an experimental section they left right after the 55 minute math section

What was the meaning of the word “sound” in the hindsight bias passage? I put accurate but I don’t know if that’s right

What were the choices?

I don’t really remember. One may have been “valid” but I can’t remember the other 2. Not even sure if valid was there though

i put acceptable as the answer to sound but the other answer was uniform and i forgot the other two.

Thank u! Just wish that the math curve is very lenient

@premednyy are you sure you’re not mistaking the “sound” question with the “standard” question? Because accepted and uniform were options for “standard”

oops yes it was probably the standard question. Although now that i think about it, uniform seems to fit better than accepted for the meaning of standard. : /

@premednyy I put uniform for “standard” but I’m 99% sure that I got it wrong and the correct answer is accepted
