Hey!
I feel that this sub forum is very unvalued, so I’m going to document my journey on this thread. I was hesitant to post this thread due to the possibility of an admissions officer seeing this, so I’m making my stats as vague as possible. Sorry. However, if someone wants all of my application information later, I’ll be happy to provide it after I get all of my college decisions.
Remember to bookmark this thread if you want to follow me on this journey!
Also, place your bets on the winner of this March Madness tournament aka the college that I’ll be attending next year. The details are belo!

EC’s: Really Good. I won’t list them out but, all I have to say that these activities are what I love to do.
Essays: I’m proud of them. I gave it my all, so I have no regrets. Plus I’m really creative and likes to think out of the box, so hopefully, colleges will appreciate that.
Miscellaneous Information: Learning Disability (I’ll explain it after decisions come out), First gen immigrant
I’m also applying for financial aid, so aid is going to be a huge factor in my decision.
For those who don’t want to read the commentary about the March Madness tournament can just skip to the end of the post!
Now, for the colleges that will be competing for my attendance!
Coming in the tournament with the first seed written on their sleeve is the quirky college from Cambridge, Massachusetts! No, it’s not Harvard. It’s better than Harvard. Please welcome MIT!
Surprisingly, the second seed is not another top engineering school like MIT, but it offers more options and a vibrant atmosphere. Please welcome the university from Providence, Rhode Island: Brown University!
With the caliber listed above, it’s somewhat shocking that this college is among its rank, but it is. Please welcome my favorite Liberal Arts College: Claremont McKenna College!
Stepping into the ring from the great state of New Jersey is the coveted Ivy with the most generous financial aid! Please welcome to the tournament, Princeton University!
The supposed #1 college in the nation is not #1 anymore. My feelings of this college being a bit pretentious and a bit overrated brings this college down to #5 in this tournament, but don’t count your chickens before they hatch. Please welcome Harvard University!
I love this school. It has everything I want. However, the fees are just too much, and judging from prior threads in this college’s sub forum, the financial aid is not the best. Therefore, please welcome the #6 seed, Northwestern University!
This college wasn’t really on my radar when I started applying to colleges, but it soon shot up the ranks after I had an interview. Plus, this college being top-notch in the programs that I want to major in is a major plus. Put your hands together for Carnegie Mellon University!
At first, I applied to this school, because I heard so many good things, but I didn’t really do much research. After the application period was over, I really loved this school and it could be a dark horse in this competition! Stand up and salute to Washington University at St. Louis!
The #9 seed in this tournament is here because the generous financial aid. This college can offer me many opportunities and chances, but I don’t know. I don’t exactly feel a resonance with this school, but that can change. I’m a Gemini, so I’m capricious. Wave to Pomona College!
Merit Aid is what I aimed for at this college and merit aid is what I got. This university has got everything I want, but I’m apprehensive for one reason. I heard that this college barely has a campus, which I’m not a fan of. Graciously welcome Northeastern University!
This institution has everything. A great alumni network. Top-notch business and engineering programs. An amazing social life. The only obstacle standing in front of this insutition’s way is financial support. Please put your hands together for the #11 seed, University of Michigan!
I applied here for the reputation and I always dreamed of becoming a Bruin. Not being a Californian is going to hurt for them though. #12 seed in this tournament is none other than UCLA!
I don’t know quite know why I applied here. This college gave me a app waiver, so I guess that I just did it to see if I got in. This college is a huge sleeper, so watch out! Welcome #13 seed, Case Western Reserve University!
I applied here for the top-notch education, but it may have been a mistake, considering the lack of financial aid that I’ll probably receive. Coming at #14 is University of California- Berkeley!
This college is probably the most likely to win, but I don’t really want to go here. It’s in-state, so the costs are really low, but I really want to get out of New Jersey. I’m supposed to be impartial but I don’t want to go here, but it’s very likely that I will. Please welcome the #15 seed, Rutgers University!
I applied here because I was desperate to get an acceptance at the time, and I also got a fee waiver. This team is already written off to lose. Sorry, #16 seed, University of Minnesota.
Eliminated in the first round is Stanford University! I wanted to have 16 colleges in the bracket, so I decided not to include Stanford. I’m already rejected, so it doesn’t matter. I’ll talk it about this in one of my posts on this thread.
March Madness Seedings in terms of my preference:
- MIT
- Brown
- CMC
- Princeton
- Harvard
- Northwestern
- CMU
- WUSTL
- Pomona
- Northeastern
- UMichigan
- UCLA
- CWRU
- UCB
- Rutgers
- UMinnesota
Here’s the game:
- Predict which “teams” are moving to the second round. Essentially, pick the colleges where I’ll get accepted. I already got accepted to some schools, so you might already be starting with some points. For every college that you guessed right, you will get 2 points. For every college that you guessed wrong, you will get -1 points. This way, you don’t guess every college.
After March 31st, I’ll announce the decisions and I’ll distribute points.
I’ll also announce if I get any aid.
- Also, after March 31st, predict which colleges will be in my top 3. Every college that you guessed right will earn you 5 points.
Around April 15th, I’ll announce my top three.
- Then, it’s time to guess the college that I’ll be going to next year. I’ll announce this probably on May 1st or a bit earlier. If you get it right, you get 8 points!
The winner gets a boatload of likes!
I hope that you enjoy the game and I hope that you stick around with me until May!
Sorry for the long post! And remember to bookmark this thread!
