March SAT Math Thread

@ douglasdkitty: y was 130 degrees, and was formed by two intersecting lines. the vertical angle (angle opposite y and congruent to it) was bisected, and each half was x degrees. by vertical angles, 2X was 130 so x was 65

I plan on applying ED to Columbia SEAS so my expected 710-720 is till abysmal lol…■■■ XD

For the 100 + J, 100 + K, 100 + L, I got 100 + K as the average every time. Maybe I read the question wrong can somebody tell me what the question was?

^

100 + (j+K+L)/3

It was the average of each 3, which would be (300+J+K+L)/3. and you can split it up and reduce 300/3 to 100, making it 100+(J+K+L)/3

Anyone remember the graph that asked for the median? The answers were 301-302, 302-303, etc.

And the circle where diameter of circle A was (something, I forgot) and radius of B was (something). It asked how much greater was the area of circle A than B?

Can somebody repost the entire question about the median temperatures please?

@abeecee the diameter/area one was 1/16 I think.

I think I got 1/8. Not sure though.

I think I might have put 16 for the diameter/area one if that was a choice. If it wasn’t then I might have put 1/16. I remember there was a 16 in my answer.

what about the question asking how many 100 mL containers would fill the liquid in a cylinder?

i think it was like the last question

@ozfried

It was something like
80
83
85
90
91

Which will give a median of 88?

Does anyone remember the experimental question where you had to calculate the number of students who took both violin and some other instrument, when the number of students who didn’t take either of the classes was 1/3 of the number of studnets who took both? Also can someone refresh me on what the code possibilies question asked the one where most of you confirmed 780 was the answer?

I think the 100 mL one was experimental. I didn’t get that question on my test.

80, 83, 85, 90, 91, 93 what will the temperature have to be on the 7th day to have a median of 88? The answer is 88.

i think only 2 students took both

Wow, this thread is already 30 pages long.

and thanks i was sure the answer was 93

what would 3 wrong and 1 omit be?
i really wanna get a 710

could someone please explain the 10r=p one to me?

i got r = 10p
it said r is 20% of t and t=50p
so r=.2(50p)
r = 10p right?

I think the (x+4)(x-4) in terms of k was k+4, not k-4.

If x^2-12=k

then (x+4)(x-4)= x^2-16

k HAS to be k+4 so that the 4 subtracts from the right hand side of the equation to form x^2-16… so k+4 is the correct answer?

Correct me if I’m wrong?

If it was k+4, then it would be x^2-8=
