is it possible to get an undergrad in MechE then go to grad school and get an MArch, granted i take some studio design classes? or are you required to be an art history/architectural studies kind of thing? would i be more desirable to architecture firms with the combination of engineering and design?

Yes. You don’t need to have studio design classes, but you’ll need to provide some evidence that you can draw and be creative. Most schools will probably want to see a portfolio.

As an example Columbia’s only requirements for a Master of Architecture program are one course in architectural graphic presentation (which in my day could be done at Columbia summer school just before the start of the M.Arch program), one 3 unit course in architectural history and one three unit course in physics or two in calculus. Not too onerous.
