Marine Biology at Coastal Carolina University v. Florida Southern College

I have recently been accepted into both CCU and FSC. I would like to focus my studies on marine biology, but I am unsure which school has the best program. I know that CCU has a marine science program within which I could choose to concentrate on marine biology. FSC has an actual marine biology degree. Because I want to focus on marine biology, would a marine science program be beneficial to me? I would also love to hear from students that are currently or have previously been enrolled in these specific programs at these schools. Basically, I’m just trying to figure out which school offers the best program for me. I should also mention that I want to obtain as much hands-on experience as an undergraduate as possible.

It probably doesn’t matter which one you choose as long as both provide an array of foundation/basic biology course work, which the likely do. As an undergrad, most of your course work will be biology foundation courses, along with Invertebrate Zoology, if the schools offer it.

It appears that CCU offers more on site research opportunities. Have you visited either school? Are you in a state that would receive instate tuition from CCU? It is important to receive a broad base of courses in marine bio, geo, and geophysics. Do both school start the marine science courses in freshman year? What are the opportunities to work with the professors on their research projects as undergrad students?
