Is an undergrad degree in marine biology ok for pre-vet.

yep, definitely, just as long as you make sure that you fulfill all of the requirements for vet school (go on some vet schools web sites and check them out). Marine bio will give you some unique experiences that I’m sure vet schools will love to see. You can major in anything for pre-vet, just as long as all of the requirements are met!

wow, I love marine bio too…and I also want to become a vet

Know this is late-but as a marine biology major and animal enthusiast let me say this.

Marine bio is NOT the correct major to take for pre-vet. Marine bio is an appropriate major for a variety of pursuits-most of which have to do with things in the wet and salty(but not all-marine bio gives the basic skillset required to work with conservation programs, environmental monitoring etc. or go to gradschool in most of the life sciences such as zoology, ecology etc.) To put it bluntly-it is going to be rare for someone to wheel a tray of algae into a vet office for a checkup. Now, you could do it, I suppose, if the requirements are for prevet are met-but you would not be learning anything relevant in your upper division classes.

A standard biology degree(perhaps with more emphasis physio, etc.) would be much better than a marine bio or biology degree which tends to look at things frequently from an organismal-community level.
