Hey, I am thinking about applying to the Marine Science Major at Cal Poly. I know it is the major I want but I fear I wont get in. I have a 4.23 GPA and 1390 SAT.
Should I apply to something I know I will get into then hope to transfer? Or apply straight to Marine Science and hope I get in?

This is never a good idea at Cal Poly, as part of the algorithm for switching majors can be looking at your original application to see if you would have been admitted in the first place to your destination major. Apply to the major you want, keep your fingers crossed, and have a safety.
