Marine science

My son is kind of middle ground at school due to a change of countries end of Gr 9 that resulted in him having to adjust to a new public school system. However, he is coping to the best of is abilities, is a scuba diver with rescue certification and strongly interested in Marine sciences and Ocean studies. He is also in the Sea Cadet program since 1.5 yrs. He wants to pursue a major in marine/Ocean sciences as well as join NROTC. Does anyone have suggestions or even what colleges he should be considering ? Not sure of a Navy scholarship but worst case he can be on a college program with NROTC.
Thanks !

University of Rhode Island. State flagship. Lower cost and world class marine sciences. Reasonable to get in. And a really nice campus and social atmosphere.

@iyen20 Checkout SUNY Maritime College. One of the best. https://www.sunymaritime.edu/academics/undergraduate-programs/marine-environmental-science

Thank you privatebanker, but I dont htink U of Rhode Island has navyROTC

I have seen their programs… it sounds exciting !

University of New Hampshire. They have Marine Biology and ROTC.

Was about to mention UNH. Definitely check it out.

Thanks, but UNH has Army and Airforce ROTC

Stony Brook

In addition to SUNY Maritime and Maine Maritime, look at Oregon State U. They have NROTC, and they’re known for their marine biology, marine ecology, and ocean science majors. They operate multiple research vessels out of their marine science center. OSU has a 77% acceptance rate so it may be a realistic admit.

Texas A&M Galveston - They have NROTC & Texas A&M Maritime Academy.

Coastal Carolina - https://www.coastal.edu/marine/

And since you mention ROTC, The Coast Guard Academy - https://www.uscga.edu/mes/

Mass Maritime ?

Some other schools to check out (NROTC and Marine Bio)

University of Tampa
