Marist decisions 2022

@CollegeParentx3 congratulations to your daughter…!!.. If she applies ED isnt she locked into this school. is she planning to withdraw al lother applications then?

Ugh, sorry, I screw those up all the time. It’s Early Action–the non-binding one, which is also why we were surprised we heard back so early. She didn’t apply ED anywhere because there were three schools she liked equally and didn’t want to have to lock in.

How much is the presidential scholarship?

@lisaol i got 12k a year for the presidential scholarship. To those of you who were accepted and applied as a computer science major, does it say on your acceptance letter that you got accepted as a computer science major? My acceptance package doesnt say anything about getting accepted as a comp sci major.

@nyknicks1000 mine didn’t say anything either

Most of my friends who applied to Marist got their acceptances yesterday but I still haven’t. Is this a bad sign? I applied EA.

@jessalab24 I haven’t gotten mine either :slight_smile:

My daughter received her early action decision today and I’m confused. She was rejected but all of her stats are above the norm for Marist. - she has a 4.0 GPA and is taking college classes and getting A’s;. Her extra curricula are excellent (national athletic ranking, won national design contest, etc.) She’s been accepted into honors colleges at two other schools, one which is her first choice school. So, I’ve narrowed it down to Marist doesn’t like that she is a homeschooler, or that she needs aid, or that she is requesting the fashion design program. My daughter is already in a school with a better known fashion design program, so the latter seems off. Does anyone have any insight what Marist didn’t like? Thank you.

Some schools are skeptical of homeschool students with big GPAs if they don’t have SAT and AP exam grades to match. I don’t mean to suggest this applies in your case, but it may if she doesn’t have an AP-4 or 5 to go with her 4.0

Yes, I am aware of concern and sometimes it’s justified. This is not so in my daughter’s case - she has the ACT score and the college courses with outside assessments and verifiable extra currucula. Marist doesn’t strike me as an AP-4 or 5 school which is why I am surprised. The decision has been made for whatever reason, so we’ll just move on. Thank you for your perspective.

My D has not received anything and many friends did. Im assuming this is not a good thing?

@kaufguen Marist is def not a 4 or 5 school - I was speaking in generalities.

Good luck to your D - she has great options!

I wouldn’t make assumptions if you haven’t heard back yet. Keep the faith–there’s still plenty of time until the official notification date for Early Action. With my eldest, it seemed to depend on geography–she had friends in Upstate NY that heard several days before she did, friends who live in our town who heard the day before and the day after her, and friends in Pennyslvania who heard a few days later.

I read online that Presidential Scholarships can range anywhere from $8K to $15K per year for the 4 years. She was offered $15K.

Her acceptance letter did not say anything about her major.

Thnx. We are very nervous as the friends are in her high school. :frowning:

I finally got my ACCEPTANCE letter with 12k SCHOLARSHIP! SO grateful :)>-

Got a letter about a week ago saying I was deferred EA. I hope I get in.

My D deferred as well! Don’t lose hope @colegecrazy101 .

D received admittance envelope yesterday, EA in CT.

Accepted EA with 40k scholarship

Anyone know when Marist releases RD notifications?
