I'm planning on a major in Marketing, and while taking General Psychology last semester, my teacher mentioned that psychology can be helpful in marketing, and a dual major or minor could make you a more attractive job candidate. Job market being what it is, anything I can do to make myself more competitive is a good thing, does anybody have further information or thought on this? I'll be talking to counselors at Uni in a few months, but it's rattling around in my head right now and driving me nuts!
Thanks!

I’m sure that is partly true, but it’s not like marketing people are out there looking for candidates with a psychology degree/minor. Anything you can tell prospective employers to show that you can take initiative and will be a valuable asset to their company will increase your chances of getting a job. Whether that is with a psychology minor or not is up to you. Do you think you will enjoy learning about psychology? If not, don’t put yourself through the stress for a small bump in your ability to get a job. You can get that small bump elsewhere (joining a marketing club, doing work outside of the classroom, getting an internship, etc.).

^ To be honest, minors aren’t that useful when you’re applying for jobs. A second major in a legitimate subject looks good because it shows that you worked harder than most undergrads. A minor, however, is much easier to complete and doesn’t really make you “stand out” academically.
