Marketing major.

I'm thinking about getting a major in marketing. What's the average salary for a marketing job, does it involve a lot of math, what can I do with it, and how lucrative is the field?

It is a good major and it can be lucrative especially if you go into sales. And I am not talking about retail sales I am talking about the business to business sales job. If you go to [U.S</a>. Bureau of Labor Statistics](http://www.bls.gov/) it will give you very real and accurate salaries for specific marketing careers and their job outlook.

My D1 suggested to her sister, D2, do not major in marketing or psychology as that is what many females do. I can attest that this is true in the college I work for.

You can do well in sales as #2 said. But only if you enjoy sales. Otherwise, please understand it is a very common major. Nothing wrong with being a female major except, as we know, women are generally paid less.

It’s mostly sales so it depends where you work. Maybe $30-40k depending where you live. To be in sales you have to be pretty outgoing and persuasive and it is competitive considering there are so many marketing majors and people who have a bachelor’s degree in general. If you’re willing to try hard and compete this could be a great major for you.
