Marketing Major

I want to gain a bachelors in Marketing but I also want to double major. What would be the best double major for marketing? Would a second language as a major be good as it would make me stand out and open more opportunities? Would a double major in communications and marketing be good?

Bump?

Anything could potentially be a good double major. It depends on your interests and what you might want to learn/explore besides marketing. A second language could be good if you want to deploy your marketing career in different markets (or it could be mostly useless). A communications major could be good…or not.

@juillet im interested in things like fashion and real estate and would like to learn another language so what would be a good double major do you think

One of the kids in my homeroom got some brilliant advice from his mom. He wants to major in marketing. She suggested that he minor in Psychology.

If you’re going to hope to market products to others, it helps to know what makes them tick.

I would look into a statistics minor. Marketing is really all about numbers now.

@bjkmom thanks a lot I wil, defintely put that into some major consideration. What do you think would be a good double major for marketing if I’m interested in fashion and real estate?

Well, I think that if you’re planning to sell fashion and/or real estate, you should know a lot about the materials you’re selling. So if, at some point, you can narrow it down to one or the other, then I would suggest taking as many courses in that area as possible.

@bjkmom thanks you’ve helped a ton!

Not necessarily anything. if your school HAS majors in fashion merchandising/fashion/textiles or real estate, then those could be good. But you don’t have to study them in college to go into marketing them; that education is earned through internships and work experience. (Fashion is particularly difficult to break into, so some knowledge ahead of time would be more useful there.)

If you are interested in learning another language, double majoring in that could work too.
