Marshall Residential Hall or Apartments?

Hi!

I was wondering if residential halls or apartments are better for an incoming freshman. I chose apartments, but i can change it up until the 6th. I looked up "housing" on Marshall's websites and it said that Residential halls only contain single and triple rooms, is this true?
Little help please?

Thanks!

I personally would recommend the res halls since most of the freshmen will be living there and it will be much easier to interact and connect with them in that type of environment. You’re not excluded from that in the apartments but it will be a little more difficult. It just depends on what your priorities are.

I highly recommend that you stay in the res halls as a freshmen. This is pretty much your only change to live in a dorm-type setting (even if Marshall res halls are suite-style). It might be spectacular (mine was) or it might suck horribly (you ended up in a triple with people that don’t shower ever) but you learn a lot about yourself and how to get along with people.

The Marshall apartments aren’t as connected as the dorms, so it is a little harder to meet people even when they’re living next to you. Additionally, there are quite a few 3rd and 4th years living on campus now that the option’s available, so it’s not just 1st/2nd years in the apts.

I also heard that most of the triples in the res halls are being converted to doubles. There were existing doubles in the res halls when I lived there.
