Massart?

My son is still waiting to hear, but he liked it when he visited. It bothers me that it is rarely mentioned here. Any opinions for Graphics design?

I have a relative who is an alumni - she graduated in early 80s and has had a successful graphic design business for the last 10 years after having worked at advertisig agencies, large companies and smaller design firms.

A friend of mine is a highly regarded graphic designer who is on the staff of a NYC art school. When my daughter was looking at art schools, we asked his opinions of various schools (we live in NYC and my daughter wanted an urban school, but not in NYC). He spoke highly of Massart. He knows staff there, he's visited the facilities, overall he was very impressed.

My daughter is there now. She was thinking of doing GD, but has decided to go the fashion route instead. Her big compaint about Massart is that the foundation year doesn't really give much opportunity to test the waters of your specific area of interest because so many of the classes are general requirements. I think this is true in many art schools. Next semester (fall, sophomore year) she is registered for 3 classes in her concentration. She's really looking forward to that and overall is happy with Massart.

Thanks for the information. My son did receive his acceptance into Massart, and we are planning on revisiting it and a couple of other colleges in the next 2 weeks. It is good to know they all have good reputations.

Handemom,
Saw this in a really old post… my d is considering massart for fashion. Your d is probably near graduation by now. The tuition is out of state for us and she does have other options but she really liked it when we visited. I would really appreciate any feedback you can offer. Thanks.
