Master for IT - database admin! good idea?

Hey I have graduated with a degree of chemistry.
I am going to start grad school in the fall majoring in IT and specialization in database admin.

I know you might be thinking why in the hell would he go from chemistry to IT because they are completely different, but I am one of those people who did chemistry just because I like it and I found through work experience that I want to be in the field of technology.

I am really interested in IT and I am sure I will do well.

So any ideas or insight about database admin. in my position?

Thank you!

Seems like a waste

You can get more from database administration by doing an industry certification (like Oracle) without an I.T. degree. If you ARE going to do a graduate computer-related degree, it would be better to do a M.S/M.Eng in Computer Science or just a “Masters of Engineering” (M.Eng) program and take database courses.

You want to be able to have the ability to be placed on multiple projects areas.
