Cellocompmom2 - One more thought on NEC. Your son can definitely audition for chamber ensembles at NEC whether or not he joins a cello studio.

My DS did so and played 3.5 years of chamber music at NEC. It nearly killed him to forego chamber music this year but with two theses to write and a senior recital to mount, he just couldn’t fit it in.

At this very moment, DS is rehearsing one of his own compositions with his former NEC quartet to perform in his senior recital next weekend. Two players had already graduated and left the area but returned to perform together. All 4 are/were Tufts-NEC dual degree students.

Lastbird – apparently I do not have the requisite 15 messages on this board that are required to respond to a private message. My response would simply have been that I don’t know for sure. Do let me know what your daughter decides, as our Ds may end up at the same school. Isn’t it nice to have this over with?!

S accepted to Berklee but they never received part of his composition scholarship application (sent on Dropbox). For someone whose main skill is composing that was pretty devastating news and NO scholarship. So hooray, sort of…

Finally heard about talent money at Hartt. $7500 per year. Nice but not enough to make her change her college ranking, I am afraid. Also, heard from both Vanderbilt and Eastman -waitlisted at both (Music Ed Bass). She chose not to stay on the list at either.

Not too sure if this counts as an acceptance, but I was placed on the waitlist for the voice department at University of Michigan’s SMTD. Likely will not accept my place, as I have scholarship offers from several other wonderful schools. Let the decision making begin!

Congratulations to CompBassMom and son (sort of), alexmariejp and daughter, and jensen94.

mezzo13, I have not kept track of the waitlistings for several years. If you change your mind and stay on the list, and subsequently get accepted, please let me know and I will add that acceptance to the list.

Son has been accepted to:
Berklee College of Music - BM Composition (Alto Sax)
California State University Long Beach (Bob Cole) - BM Composition (Tenor Sax)
Vanguard University of Southern California - BM Composition (Alto Sax)

There is one more in the works, a late addition that should be completed after Spring break.

DD has sent in her deposit to SUNY Purchase, and will attend Fall 2013 for vocal performance. She “broke up” with Crane at SUNY Potsdam…they have been very patient and helpful with her year-long deferment, only to lose her to Purchase in the end. But this is a better fit for her. Closer to NYC to continue modeling jobs that come her way.

The final letters came today. S accepted to Hofstra with a $23000 per year scholarship, the packet from Temple (previously mentioned $18000 per year, plus another $4000 for “travel”), a music scholarship from GMU of $5000 to add to the academic scholarship of $7000.
But also in the mailbox was the packet from Miami. We are going there this weekend for the accepted students day and if all goes well then we will be leaving a deposit
Thanks for everything BassDad. Hope to be able to give you the official decision for your other thread by next week

Congratulations to NYsaxmom and son. Is the Hofstra acceptance for the BS in Music Education, or something else?

Congratulations also to WAstamper and son, for acceptances in piano performance at Carnegie Mellon, Florida State and Vanderbilt, as noted on another thread.

Thanks Mezzo Mama - I’m not allowed to private message since I don’t have 15 posts yet! It really helps to hear from those experienced with this whole process.
