Hello! I'm heading into my senior year of a Bachelor's of Music in vocal performance and have to start setting my sights on grad school. Even though I'm studying classical voice, I really love the stage aspect of music and would really like to pursue a MFA in directing, especially in opera or musical theatre (with the music background and all). I've been looking at a few programs but haven't been able to get in contact with any of their students.

I have a very good GPA, both in classes for my major and core curriculum classes, and have some experience assistant directing operas and musicals. I have heard that most programs want applicants who have had a few years of professional experience - are there any good ones that wouldn't be opposed to taking a student fresh out of undergrad?

Has anyone gone into an MFA directing program in any discipline (musical theatre, opera, straight theatre) or know someone who could offer advice?

Thanks so much!!
