<p>Hello,</p>

<p>I recently graduated with a BA in Urban Planning and was looking to go to Grad school given the current job market. One of the topics that interested me the most in Urban Planning was the issue of sustainability. I have looked at programs at Cal State Fullerton and the University of San Francisco, both offer a MS in Environmental Studies.</p>

<p>I was wondering if having a Masters of Science will complement my Bachelor of Arts and make me more well-rounded in terms of technical knowledge.</p>

<p>Also, what is the difference between MS in Environmental Studies vs. MS in Environmental Science?</p>

<p>The difference between Science and Studies is that the Science degree usually requires more coursework in traditional scientific fields, while the Studies degree usually leans toward policy. You do need to carefully study each program, though, to determine requirements, focus, and outcomes.</p>

<p>I’m not an expert in Urban Planning, but a graduate degree in the Environmental world will probably take you in a different direction. I don’t know if that is what you are looking for. Without knowing your situation, my guess is that it depends on the angle from which you intend to approach sustainability.</p>
