I’m an under-graduate with a degree in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering. I want to do MS and I’m not sure which branch to choose. I’m confused between many streams
- Material Science Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Engineering Management
- Production Engineering
What do you want to do? MSE would be the most closely related/almost the same thing.
For and MSE in Materials Science Engineering you could specialize in metals, polymers, ceramics, nanotech, biomaterials, or some other type of material.
Usually people know the area they want to pursue before they decide they want an advanced degree. Why are you compelled to get an MS if you are so uncertain?
Maybe you should work for a few years before going for a Masters. Lots of engineers do that. Then you might get an idea of where you want your career to go, and it would be easier to pick an appropriate graduate degree. Plus, any Masters program will probably be more meaningful because you’ll see how it applies (or not) to the real world.
I wanted to do something similar to Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering. So, I wanted to know if that is a part of Materials engineering or not?
