Material Science and Engineering Grad School Or Not?

All,

I’m highly interested in getting a Master’s Degree in Material Science and Engineering. From my own research, there aren’t a lot of places that look for this particular position, nor does it seem to be growing particularly fast (albeit senior engineers at my workplace disagree with that statement). Would someone be able to shed some light on this matter? That is, should I be getting involved in this particular field? Or should I look into other majors, like Chemistry, Electrical Engineering (my other two possibilities)?

P.S.: I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. From what I know, Material Science and Engineering complements my degree quite nicely. Plus, I’d like to work in a lab if at all possible.

Thank You,
Greg
