Masters worth it?

So I plan on majoring in Engineering(not sure which but leaning tword electrical) and i was wondering would it be worth it do get my masters right after(in something like a 4+1 thing)? Also which is more practical for the job market M.Eng. or M.S. And i will probably get enough AP credits to take a year off, so would it be realistic to get a Bachelors and Masters in 4 years?

That entirely depends on your situation. What are you goals? Of course, you don’t really know this yet because you don’t even know what major you want to do. Don’t even concern yourself with grad school yet. Realistically, you don’t need to start seriously considering grad school until you are in the junior-level classes.

In general, 4+1 programs for BS/MS are a great deal. It basically saves you a year versus what most people do to get an MS. They can sometimes be tough to get into, though, so you have to make sure you keep your GPA up.

As for practicality, I have always taken the stance that in the majority of cases, a thesis-based MS degree is more practical than any of its non-thesis counterparts (whether they are called an MS or MEng, it doesn’t matter). If you are going to do grad school immediately after undergrad, I would implore you to choose the thesis option.
